The rapid penetration of digital technologies into people’s everyday lives has caused dramatic changes in people’s lifestyles. As always, innovation unleashes unimaginable possibilities at the same time, but also poses entirely new dangers. Numerous scientific studies have confirmed what we have long suspected – smartphones and tablets have hit the most vulnerable among us the hardest – children.
Even when mobile phones are not in use, their mere presence on the desk weakens cognitive capacity, as an important part of the attention remains occupied with possible notifications. Short-term, empty video content is produced in such a way as to capture attention and prevent deeper thinking, that is, patient reading, without which success in school is necessarily absent. There’s a bitter irony in the fact that our children are constantly networked, but that they rarely socialize.
Few things are as painful as the sight of irritable, sleepless and indifferent children, because children are predisposed to joy, play and delight. In order to defend our students from this modern scourge, we have made a decision to completely ban the use of mobile phones and other digital devices, which applies unconditionally to students and teaching staff during their stay at school. The mind must remain cheerful and open to a whole world of new knowledge.
