Picture of Filip Grbić

Filip Grbić

Director

Born in Belgrade. He spent his childhood in Moscow. He graduated from the Third Belgrade Gymnasium, and then graduated in philosophy from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade. As a Platonist, he believes that philosophy lives only to the extent that it is shared with others. Out of love for philosophy, he dedicated his life to constant learning and teaching. He who teaches others must learn constantly because, as Immanuel Kant observes, "a man can only be educated by a man who is also educated." The basic Socratic principle that he adheres to when working with students is "virtue is knowledge". In other words, the path to moral improvement is through intellectual work on oneself. Good will and the desire for knowledge form the most beautiful unity that a person can reach.

He spent more than 13 years in the field of educational work, during which he taught classical classes in philosophy and logic, i.e. project classes in elective programs such as the methodology of scientific research and religion and civilization. His students have achieved outstanding success at national and international competitions. Through active participation in numerous school teams, he was able to solve complex problems that accompany the life of every school. He treats his students with respect, believes in them, and knows that they can always do more than they think they can. That is why support in the education process is crucial.

He turned his passion for literature into three published novels that met with high critical acclaim and a warm reception from the reading public. Grbić’s works have been printed in large circulations, in numerous editions and have been translated into foreign languages. He has also received prestigious national literary awards for his novels. He is the winner of the “Miloš Crnjanski” Award for the novel “Ruminations of the Impending Catastrophe” and the “Branko Ćopić” Award for the novel “Prelest”.

To his love of philosophical research, he decided to give the highest academic form. As a PhD student at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, Filip Grbić is writing his doctoral dissertation dedicated to selected problems of contemporary hermeneutic philosophy. He believes that unlike all other pleasures that almost legitimately turn into pain, learning is the only thing that never lets a person down.
